Historic improvements

Late 2014 the commitee decided as part of it`s long term goal to achieve a virtually maintenance free environment,  to purchase recycled plastic kickboards and ground stakes. these have now been fitted, this will eliminate any rotting boards and the yearly requirement to paint them. Many Thanks to Shaun and Steve for your many hours of hard graft on this project.

Duck boards removed and 2 tonne of rubber pellets added to the gutters, this is to add superior cushioning for the bowls and reduce long term maintenance of the current wooden duck boards.

Roof and side panels fitted, looking very good, just seating and shelving to go in should be complete within a week. A very poor turnout meant the painting still has to be finished a big thanks goes to the 6 that helped.

Drainage.

Problems with the green flooding in the far right corner at the latter end 2012 prompted us to dig trenches in the gutters rod all the drains and we eventually found a problem with the main drain on the land of the adjacent golf course. After seeking permission to dig on their land and a long drawn out process of sending rods though till they hit the blockage while someone lies on the floor listening for the exact position of the blockage, we decided to dig.

After about 20 minutes digging there was a rumble and a woooshhh, it was time to evacuate the hole. Up in the air the dirty water went like something out of the Beverly hillbillies.

This continued to drain heavily for 48hrs. Then it was time to send in the big boys with mechanical diggers to fit a drain away

and inspection Chamber. Hopefully we will see massive improvement to the green drainage this year. Thanks go to David Rosenfield for his hard work on this project.

The Gate.

With a new commitee comes a new desire to get things done and during the winter we have now fitted the new gate to add security to our grounds and safety to our patrons. Thanks to all who helped with this project.

The New Shelter.

After breaking into the bank of Caudwell, we did the maths and decided with the current level of sponsorship we could afford to build a shelter so in December 2012 we had plans drafted with associated costs, ordered the materials to arrive in January and with Norman Bagshaw offering to build the shelter set about removing the hedges and preparing the ground. While doing this Rod, Rosey and Jim (no pun intended) took about a metre of the full height of the hedge to bring it to a more managable height. Base prepared and concrete layed in March, Shelter ready now, 2nd April 2013, just a case of transporting it to site and assembling. Many Thanks to all involved in this project.

The shelter is now on site and Weather permitting assembly should begin 5th April 2013.
